We find and help low-income and marginalized women in our neighborhood to produce naturally dyed clothing for men and women using organic cotton. We use GOTS certified 100% Organic Cotton fabric produced by organic cotton farmers of Vidarbha Maharashtra India. We are working with different communities together for a collective effort to change the way our society looks at social issues.

fabriKolor is addressing 3 major social challenges that India faces at the moment:

1. Poor economical sociological and psychological state of marginalized women in our society.

2. Excessive use of harmful and hazardous synthetic/chemical dyes in the textile industry

This initiative gives us the opportunity to support the progress towards United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are putting seamless efforts to achieve gender equality and women empowerment. This initiative provides healthy well being and a better future to our women co-workers. We are also committed to protecting our environment by adopting Eco-friendly practices in our production line.

Our Solution:
Women Empowerment :

We make organic clothing for men and women handcrafted by trained marginalized women using natural Eco-friendly dyeing methods.We find and help these marginalized women in our neighborhood by providing them free learning and earning opportunities to achieve a better standard of living.

Ethical eco-dyeing Practices:

We use traditional natural dyeing techniques which are harmless to environment safe for skin contact and non-hazardous to human health.Our process involves extracting natural color pigments from ayurvedic herbs flowers vegetable roots and plant material.

Organic Cotton:

We source GOTS certified 100% organic cotton fabric produced by organic farming communities of Vidarbha in India thereby helping these farmers earn a better livelihood.

Our Impact:

Economic Impact :This initiative has provided equal learning and earning opportunities to marginalized women in our neighborhood.These women are more confident and hopeful about their future than before. This Initiative has developed marginalized women who did not have any prior work experience and proper education into creative artisans. Our women co-workers have been able to involve other marginalized women in this initiative by proactively spreading the word. This initiative has also revitalized the rural organic cotton farming communities by providing healthy and sustainable farming future for farmers and their families. 

Environmental Impact :We are working towards creating a sustainable future for our planet. The natural textile dyes that we extract and use for our products comes from renewable agro resources and at the same time biodegradable. Natural dyes reduces the carbon footprint by reducing consumption of fossil fuel (petroleum) based synthetic dyes. The waste in the process becomes an ideal fertilizer for use in agricultural fields thereby not affecting the environment with disposal issues. We only use certified organically grown cotton fabric which has been grown without using synthetic fertilizers pesticides unwarranted hormones etc. Organic cotton replenishes the soil and uses far less water for cultivation than convention cotton.

Social Impact :Our work has encouraged the society to move towards a more sustainable lifestyle by eradicating elements like exploitation marginalization and consumerism from the society. Our customers are more likely to make conscious decisions in their daily life after they come to know about the various social challenges that our society faces.
